Rainbow Nursery Dartford

About Us

Nursery Dartford

providing high quality childcare

Rainbow Day Nursery in Dartford is a privately owned, home from home, Ofsted registered full day care nursery for children from 6 months of age, providing high quality care and early education since 1985.

We follow a child centred curriculum which links to the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Rainbow has 5 spacious playrooms, providing a home from home approach, building on children’s individuality, learning and supports all areas of development.

Our practitioners strive to create a calm and welcoming environment where children can feel safe, secure, loved and have a sense of belonging.

Natural Curiosity

Our practitioners provide resources and nurturing environments that support children’s natural curiosity, inquisitiveness and imagination.

Outdoor Play

Each playroom has direct access to it own bespoke outdoor garden area, providing the opportunity for free flow opportunities.

At Rainbow we recognise the importance of daily outdoor play and physical development. Therefore, we are committed to ensuring all children have daily access regardless of their age and stage of development. This includes the children having free flow access to the outdoors allowing them the freedom to play indoors or out. We provide an inclusive outdoor play environment with areas for non-mobile children to freely explore. We go out to play in all weathers (unless it is deemed unsafe).

We understand the vital role that learning outdoors has on children’s learning and development, as well as the importance of regular access to outdoor play to keep fit and healthy, develop children’s large and fine motor skills, experience learning in a natural environment and access sunlight to absorb vitamin D more effectively. The outdoor areas help children to learn and develop in a variety of ways, including independence, exploration and investigative skills, risk taking and self-esteem, all which support children to develop skills now and for the future.

We take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of children through risk assessments, whilst balancing the benefits to learning by means of providing an element of ‘risky play’. This type of play allows children to explore and find their own boundaries in a safe environment with supportive practitioners. Staff are informed of the importance of safety procedures and are trained appropriately to ensure these procedures are followed effectively.

challenging opportunities to enhance play experiences and learning

In addition we have a very large, secure garden that is utilised throughout the seasons. It has been designed to offer a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities to enhance play experiences and learning. Areas include our ever popular mud kitchen, climbing & cycling areas, construction, loose parts and much more.
